However, I was so disappointed when I could only run 720p 59.5hz while the other options only work at 29.5hz and below.Ĥk 60hz is not what I wanted, I only want to run 2560 x 1440 60hz or 2304 x 1296 60hz and yet my mbp doesn't allow this to happen. However, my friend's 2015 mbp can run easily 4k 60hz with my setup.

When I upgraded to Catalina SwitchResX no longer worked and I received the "Not activated - invalid?" message. I tried all of the solutions above: uninstall and reinstall as a new user, update using EDID, renaming the relocated items file, etc. I reached out to the developer and he helped me troubleshoot but was ultimately told that the video drivers in Catalina had a restriction that was not in the previous OS and there was nothing that could be done, my machine just could no longer support 2560 x 1080.
